The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Curatorial Project Officer, Australian Art who will provide administrative duties that support Australian Art exhibitions and displays, major projects and the development and management of the NGV Collection.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will provide high quality curatorial administration support including developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets, preparing proposals, reports and correspondence. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Senior Curator with the research, development and implementation of displays and exhibitions, and provide administration and project support for major projects.
  • Contributing to the safekeeping, maintenance and development of the Collection, including undertaking cataloguing duties, preparing proposals and reports and accurately following processes relating to acquisitions and donations and related administration.
  • Researching, collating and drafting content and interpretation for use in publications, marketing materials, resources, exhibitions and programs in consultation with the Senior Curator.

To be successful, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated knowledge of Australian art (specifically nineteenth and twentieth century) coupled with direct or transferrable experience in administration and project management (i.e. exhibitions, collections or events), publishing or research within a related setting is desirable. You can prepare briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language, ensuring written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose and can confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and interesting way.

You plan and prioritise work to ensure outcomes are achieved, supports other people in the time management of their tasks, uses time efficiently, develops realistic action plans and implements systems and procedures to guide and track progress and recognises barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.

Proficient skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Office Suite, and WordPress are desirable.
