The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an Editorial and Production Coordinator to coordinate the production, editorial, advertising, distribution and administration requirements of NGV Magazine, the bi-monthly print and digital magazine of the NGV, and other NGV Audience Engagement projects as required.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the Head of Audience Engagement, you will be coordinating the editorial, commissioning, production and distribution requirements of NGV Magazine. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely production and delivery of NGV Magazine, including designers, editors and other NGV staff, magazine advertisers, authors, photographers and printing companies.
  • Supporting and contributing other Audience Engagement projects, such as reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Demonstrating high-level administration skills and proven attention to detail, including updating files, records and schedules, financial administration including processing invoices and purchase orders, updating author briefs and commission notes, responding to emails and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Utilising proven project management skills to develop and oversee of project plans, production schedules and budgets.

To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience in an editorial or publishing production role or related field, supplemented by a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent. You develop and implement systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; experience producing project plans and schedules with clearly defined objectives and clearly specified steps for achieving them; ensuring objectives and deadlines are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues. You have strong written communication skills and experience writing and reviewing texts for a range of purposes and audiences, using clear, concise, grammatically correct and audience-appropriate language, and ensuring written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose.

Experience in print advertising sales or stakeholder management is highly desirable.

Sound knowledge of art and design history and theory is well regarded.
