The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an Exhibitions Finance Officer to provide effective and efficient services to internal and external clients including financial budget and forecast development, actual financial performance monitoring, analysis and reporting and project/program financial management.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing detailed budgets and forecasts for exhibitions, working closely with the Assistant Director Exhibitions Management and Design, the Head of Exhibitions Management, and other departments. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and facilitating the monthly external reporting of the exhibitions cash flow. Communicating differences between actuals and forecasted figures and liaising with departments and explaining any differences.
  • Providing timely and accurate ad-hoc reporting to EMT and external bodies. NGV reports through to other government departments, which may relate to budget, forecasting and actuals submitted by the NGV. The ability to run ad-hoc financial reporting and respond to these requests is essential.
  • Working with the Finance department to facilitate the development and implementation of accurate budgets within the exhibition forecasting software. Ensuring regular updates to forecast expenditure and monthly cashflow so that accurate cost reporting can occur.
  • Managing the reconciliations of exhibition forecasts and budgets to ensure accurate analysis of actual exhibition expenditure occurs and the data is provided to departments to assist with forward budgeting.

To be successful, you will have tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or equivalent coupled with previous experience in the budgeting of significant and complex projects. You can develop and manage complex budgets, plan for and manage risks and monitor expenditure against budget projections and ensure the use of honest, transparent and appropriate purchasing processes.

You can deal with concepts and complexity comfortably, use numbers and numerical concepts to convey and obtain information, insights and ideas, use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems from different perspectives and draw sound inferences from information available. You are knowledgeable about financial issues and responsibilities and proactively seek more efficient ways of doing things.

You will be able to provide expert advice and guidance to internal clients, apply well developed engagement skills, creative and advanced problem-solving skills and specialised financial management skills in services to assist our internal clients in their decision making and business performance.

Previous experience with Board (or similar budgeting software) and D365 is an advantage.
