The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Production Coordinator, Publishing and Photography, to coordinate, schedule and deliver NGV Publishing and Photography requests through high quality administration and communication.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for establishing and refining processes involved in the supply of images, in a variety of forms, to meet both internal and external requests. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Applying pre-press to images appropriate to the required output and supplying proofs on coated or uncoated stocks as required.
  • Printing requests and maintenance of departmental printers, including quality control and maintenance of colour profiling and the ordering of supplies.
  • Contributing to the storage and access of images in the archive in a way that meets both the immediate and future needs of the gallery.
  • Supporting the Manager, Publishing and Photography to manage workflow for NGV Publishing and Photography requests, from initial brief through to delivery, including managing incoming requests and ensuring appropriate resources are allocated, requests prioritised and delivered in line with expected timelines.
  • Maintaining relevant workflow systems, project trackers and other documentation, with a focus on continuous improvement. Facilitating and maintaining effective internal and external communications, with staff, contractors and suppliers, while ensuring the appropriate standard of production is achieved in the printing of NGV Publications and other Publishing and Photography materials.

To be successful, you will have tertiary qualification in photography or multimedia, and/or demonstrable experience in the print industry and colour management, and a range of software applications particularly Adobe Photoshop. Demonstrated experience in pre-press, administration and project management gained from practical experience coordinating high volume tasks within a related work environment is highly desirable.

You identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal. You develop and implement systems and procedures to guide work and track progress and recognise barriers and find effective ways to deal with them. You have the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information and material. You have excellent interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on tact and discretion. You demonstrate capacity for sustained effort and hard work, are adaptable and enjoy a vigorous and dynamic work environment. You have advanced computer skills and use a wide range of software application features for word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

You maintain knowledge of hardware/software developments and trends within the digital imaging and printing industry. An interest in and knowledge of the visual arts is well regarded.
