The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a casual Program Facilitator, First Nations Art and Culture to facilitate and support engaging learning experiences with the NGV Collection and exhibitions, with a particular focus on First Nations art, culture, histories and communities.

This position is only open to applicants that identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. The National Gallery of Victoria considers that being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for facilitating and supporting learning experiences for NGV audiences, including tours, workshops and other programs with a focus on First Nations art, design and perspectives. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering programs in a variety of contexts (onsite, online and outreach) for diverse audiences, including school and higher education students of different subjects and levels; families, and adult learners including teachers and community groups.
  • Contributing to the development of learning resources and programs, including those incorporating First Nations art, design and perspectives.
  • Contributing to improvements in service delivery through ongoing evaluation of programs and practice, and active engagement in own professional learning.

To be successful, you will have demonstrated skill and experience in delivering engaging learning experiences that prioritise First Nations art, culture, histories and communities. You will have familiarity with how curriculum frameworks are used to develop learning activities for students and teachers, and the ability to adapt facilitation methods to learners of different needs, interests and experience.

Teaching qualifications and experience, or experience as a program facilitator in a cultural or education setting is highly desirable.

You have a current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one.
