VPS 4.1: $100,894 per annum + 12% superannuation

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer responsible for managing the NGV’s payroll function, leading payroll projects and managing service providers.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for managing and acting as a source of expert advice for all activities associated with the efficient operation of the NGV’s payroll function. Ensuring relevant providers meet the NGV’s security, compliance, performance and service requirements. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end to end fortnightly payroll processing and reports to ensure timely and accurate payments to staff, as well as salary packaging, superannuation, taxation and other payments to audit standards.
  • Providing specialist advice and support for the administration of the NGV’s Workers Compensation, Superannuation and PAYG obligations, premium information, calculation of entitlements, and compliance reporting.
  • Preparing reports to meet business and compliance needs, including EOFY, government and legislative requirements.
  • Leading projects related to HRIS / Payroll system improvements, including research, analysis, consultation, development of project plans and coordinating actions and implementation.

To be successful, you will have demonstrated knowledge, ability and confidence to manage and maintain an effective HRM/Payroll system in line with contemporary best practice, coupled with expertise and experience in award/entitlement interpretation, reporting, Workcover, Superannuation and PAYG.

You observe fine details, seek all relevant information for problem solving, using analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems and identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems. You confidently convey ideas and information in a clear way, understanding and meeting the needs of target audiences. You can handle sensitive and confidential information and material, with an emphasis on tact and discretion.
